EAYL 513 - Oral Comm YL going to 6th Prim
Utilizing learner-centered methodology and task-based instruction, learners will be able to speak in English and to communicate efficiently in an English-speaking context. In this class, learners will prepare material at home before coming to class. They will work in pairs and groups on tasks in class to transfer their knowledge to real life situations. Attention will be given to pronunciation, stress and intonation and learner’s vocabulary repertoire will be expanded by the presentation and use of words related to every lesson.Prerequisite: Successful completion of Primary 5. Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to: 1. Identify the purpose and the theme of the listening task. 2. Recount the main idea of the listening task. 3. Discuss a wide variety of engaging topics/texts 4. Dramatize a situation through role play using appropriate functions 5. Use a wide range of vocabulary pertinent to the topics covered in the course 6. Give a two- minute oral presentation about a familiar topic 7. Enunciate clearly enough to be understood 60% of the time . Course title: Conversational English for Young Learners Group Two (6th Primary). Term duration: 2 Weeks Schedule: 3 Session/week - 2.5 Hrs/Session Assessments and Attendance: Assessments and Attendance: Two continual assessments are used throughout the course on speaking skills to measure learners’ overall performance in the course. The course final grade is based on learners’ performance on continual assessment measures.
