MSA 101 - Elementary Modern Standard Arabic (Lower)
This is a course in Modern Standard Arabic for learners with very little prior exposure. It emphasizes the development of the ability to write and read with special focus on the mastery of pronunciation. It starts with a focus on the writing and sound production of the alphabet; moves on to writing words; and constructing simple, short sentences. Learning Outcomes: Learning Outcomes: 1. Review greetings learned and practiced with Alif Baa. 2. Review different responses to greetings. 3. Introduce more greetings with their responses . Part of the: Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) Admission Requirements • Proficiency Test in the Modern Standard Arabic (PTMSA) Fees: Early Registration Discounted fees: L.E. 660 Regular Registration Fees (as of the first day of the term at SCE): L.E. 730 Courses Fees are valid only for terms beginning before August, 2012 Term duration: 12 weeks Assessments and Attendance: Learners are assessed throughout the term by tests, quizzes, assignments, projects or other means of evaluation. End-of-term achievement tests measure learners’ overall performance in the course. The final grade in each course is based on learners’ performance on continual assessment measures and the final test. Final course grades are NOT based on attendance, since in accordance with SCE’s attendance policy, learners must attend at least 75% of the class sessions in order to be allowed to take the final examination.
