SBOM 104 - Business Finance
This course is designed for Non-Finance Managers to provide them with basic knowledge in finance and how it is used for performance management, business improvements and valuation. As well, this course provides the learners with a wide range of the most commonly used financial terms and tools in order to facilitate the decision making process and communication with finance professionals.

Part of the: Foundation Certificate in Business Administration

Learning Outcomes: By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
1. Define finance terms :assets, liabilities, capital, depreciation and capitalization.
2. Illustrate the accounting process: journals and ledgers
3. Identify how debits and credits work
4. Identify the content and format of the annual report
5. Use the balance sheet to examine assets and liabilities
6. Analyze the income statement to assess revenues and expenses
7. Analyze the statement of cash flow sources and uses of funds
8. Assess financial decisions
9. Evaluate the performance of organization

Admission Requirements for the above certificate(s):
1. Applicants must pass the Standardized English Proficiency Test (SEPT) and score level ENGG B1A.
2. Applicants must have basic Computer Literacy

Term duration: 6 Weeks
Schedule: 2 Sessions/week - 2.5 Hrs/Session

Assessments and Attendance:
Learners are assessed throughout the term by Assignment, case studies, quizzes, classroom activities, group discussions and projects. Or other means of evaluation. End-of-term achievement tests measure learners’ overall performance in the course. The final grade in each course is based on learners’ performance on continual assessment measures and the final test. Final course grades are NOT based on attendance, since in accordance with SCE’s attendance policy, learners must attend at least 60% of the class sessions in order to be allowed to take the final examination.
