SAS 117 - Generation, Transmission and Distribution
This course covers the basics of electrical power system main elements, including generation basics and economics, transmission and distribution basics, types of loads, measurement and control of power quality standards, including harmonics, power factor. 

Learning Outcomes :

1. Identify the basic concepts and measurements of electricity, including voltage, current, frequency, etc.
2. Categorize the major types of power generation plants.
3. Analyze the effect of power plant types on power economics.
4. Select the right type of transmission/distribution system a particular case.
5. Explain the elements of electric bill for major customers.
6. Recognize main problems about power quality and.
7. Manage solutions for quality issues.

Admission Requirements for the above certificate(s) :

1. If offered in Arabic:

Learners must hold Thanawia Amma or equivalent or higher.

2. If offered in English:

-Learners must hold Thanawia Amma or equivalent or higher.
-Learners must obtain a minimum score of A2C proficiency level on SCE’s Standardized English Proficiency Test.
