SAS 104 - Wellness and Safety in the Workplace
In this course students will study the basics of identification, evaluation, and control of safety hazards associated with the work environment. A major objective of this course is to help learners to develop a solid understanding of the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) legislation, processes, procedures, and techniques involved in workplace safety hazard recognition, assessment, and control. In addition, the course will seek to raise the student’s awareness of wellness issues and how encouraging improvement in the mental and physical health of themselves and those around them reduces stress levels and absenteeism and ultimately improves performance and productivity.

Learning Outcomes :

1. Define the main role of the Environmental, Health & Safety organization in different organizations based on both the Local Regulations and the International Standards.
2. Describe the main pillars of the EHS management Systems.
3. Assess workplace Risks, Hazardous agents and methods of control.
4. Analyze (Root Cause of illnesses, injuries, near misses and unsafe conditions.
5. Develop EHS corrective actions from opening to closure.
6. Illustrate basics of emergency management.
7. Apply techniques for recognizing, assessing, and controlling safety “CS” hazards.
8. Apply hazardous waste management and environmental protection.
9. Execute checklists assessments in multiple EHS aspects.
10. Listen to the voice of the customer through reported events to define the right actions.

Admission Requirements for the above certificate(s) :

1. If offered in Arabic:

Learners must have at least 3 years of experience in a technical-related field after high school completion or completed >5 CEUs (>50 Hours) in SCE’s Applied Studies Department at specific area of specialization or have a bachelor degree.

2. If offered in English:

-Learners must have at least 3 years of experience in a technical-related field after high school completion or completed >5 CEUs (>50 Hours) in SCE’s Applied Studies Department at specific area of specialization or have a bachelor degree.
-Learners must obtain a minimum score of A2C proficiency level on SCE’s Standardized English Proficiency Test.
