This course is the fourth of six levels that constitute the Career Certificate Math and Science Teacher Training. It aims at developing teaching skills and competencies in a learner centered environment. The course provides trainees with additional principles necessary to conduct teaching in a communicative teaching approach. The course strongly emphasizes interactive instructional strategies which assist trainees in sharpening their teaching skills. A careful balance between theory and practice is maintained throughout the course.Prerequisite:ETLS402 Teaching Math and Science in English 2 (The Starting Teacher). Part of the: Part of the: Career Certificate in Math and Science Teacher Training Learning outcomes: By the end of this certificate, the candidate can do the following: • Use a variety of instructional strategies and classroom management techniques. • Design a lesson plan, including measurable objectives and performance assessment techniques Term duration: 6 Weeks Schedule: 2 Sessions/week - 2.5 Hrs/Session Assessments and Attendance: Learners are assessed throughout the term by tests, quizzes, assignments, projects or othermeans of evaluation. End-of-term achievement tests measure learners’ overall performancein the course. The final grade in each course is based on learners’ performance oncontinual assessment measures and the final test. Final course grades are NOT based on attendance, since in accordance with SCE’s attendance policy, learners must attend at least 75% of the class sessions in order to be allowed to take the final examination.
