SBAF 302 - Intermediate Corporate finance |
This course is intended to round out the student’s comprehensive overview of corporate finance topics; examines the concepts, techniques, and tools used by financial managers in their attempts to make effective investing and financing decisions. Specific attention is devoted to advanced capital budgeting topics, the dividend policy and financing decisions, international finance, financial risk management, and corporate restructuring.
Prerequisite:Foundation Certificate in Accounting and Finance or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: 1. Grasp the importance of financial information in business lives 2. Assess the relative merits of two – period projects using net present value 3. Explain how to choose the appropriate discount rate for a given stream of cash flows, according to the investment horizon 4. Compare each of the capital budgeting tools and tell why NPV always gives the correct decision 5. Use breakeven analysis, sensitivity analysis, or scenario analysis to evaluate project risk 6. Use the Capital Asset Pricing Model to calculate the cost of capital for a particular project 7. Calculate the weighted average of cost capital Term duration: 6 Weeks Schedule: 2 Sessions/week - 2.5 Hrs/Session Assessments and Attendance: Learners are assessed throughout the term by tests, quizzes, assignments, projects or othermeans of evaluation. End-of-term achievement tests measure learners’ overall performancein the course. The final grade in each course is based on learners’ performance oncontinual assessment measures and the final test.
