SELT 201 - Methods and Principles in English Language |
As part of the Professional Diploma in ELT which is a 210-hour program in teacher training that aims to sharpen the teaching skills of novice and experienced teachers alike and begins with the sixty-hour FELT course (Fundamentals of English Language Teaching), Methods and Principles in English Language Teaching (60 hours) discusses learning theories, approaches, methods and principles. It also covers teaching and assessing language skills and components in the light of learning outcomes.
Part of the: Professional Diploma in English Language Teaching -ELT Learning Outcomes: By the end of this course, learners will be able to: 1. Compare and contrast various theories of foreign language learning 2. Evaluate various approaches and methods of foreign language teaching 3. Observe, reflect on and apply language teaching principles in practice 4. Develop a well-sequenced, outcomes-based lesson plan Term duration: 12 Weeks Schedule: 1 weekend Session/week - 5 Hrs/Session Admission Requirements for the above certificate(s) : 1.Applicants must be university graduates (a copy of the bachelor’s degree is required at time of admission). 2. Completion of the Certificate of Achievement in the Fundamentals of English Language Teaching. Assessments and Attendance: Learners are assessed throughout the term by tests, quizzes, assignments, projects or other means of evaluation. End-of-term achievement tests measure learners’ overall performance in the course.
