DINF 113 - Oracle Database Administration Program |
Learners who complete this program will learn the necessary skills and techniques used in administering databases using Oracle. Topics include installing and maintaining an Oracle database, monitoring its performance, maintaining its security and transporting data across platforms.Prerequisite:Completion of Oracle Database Development Program (DINF111) which includes two
modules: (1) Oracle 10g: Introduction to SQL. (2) Oracle 10g: PL/SQL Programming.. Certificate Title: Oracle Database Administration Program Target Audience: This program is intended for individuals who want to demonstrate their skill level and commitment to their careers as Oracle Database Administrators (DBAs). Entry-level DBA's and individuals looking for a job as a DBA are prime candidates for this Program. Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the learners will be able to: 1. Identify the elements of database administration. 2. Manage users, schema objects and data. 3. Configure the oracle network environment. 4. Use the Enterprise Manager to monitor performance. 5. Implement oracle database security. 6. Create database backups and storage areas. 7. Perform complete recovery following data loss and non-critical losses. 8. Use tools to perform flashback for a database and configure a flashback database architecture. 9. Install an Oracle secure backup. 10. Manage memory, storage, resources and automatic tasks. 11. Use automatic performance and storage management tools. 12. Move data across platforms. Admission Requirements for the above program(s): * Applicants must pass the Standardized English Proficiency Test (SEPT) and score level ENGG A1D. Oracle Database Administration Program includes two modules: (1) Oracle 10g: Administration I (2) Oracle 10g: Administration II. Term Duration: 6 weeks Schedule: 3 sessions/Week - 4 Hrs/Session Assessments and Attendance: Learners are assessed throughout the term by tests, quizzes, assignments, projects or other means of evaluation. End-of-term achievement tests measure learners’ overall performance in the course. The final grade in each course is based on learners’ performance on continual assessment measures and the final test.
