SBAF 106 - Financial reporting and Analysis
This course provides the learners with in-depth techniques on developing and writing financial reports. Learners will get acquainted with how to read and interpret the financial reports through extended practices on using trend analysis (financial ratios) to point out management weaknesses, strength & reasons behind them both during the studied accounting period as a step for (short-term & long-term) financial planning.

Prerequisite: SBAF 101 Preparation of Financial Statements.

Part of the: Career Certificate in Accounting and Career Certificate in Finance

Learning Outcomes: By the end of this course, learners will be able to
1.Classify accounting information prepared by accounting department into financial reports
2.Build financial reports using trial balances
3.Differentiate the types of analysis (common size analysis, trend analysis, & other analysis)
4.Analyze financial reports using both common size & trend analysis.
5.Interpret the most commonly used financial ratios to measure management performance during the studied accounting period
6.Analyze reasons behind financial ratios trends & conclude the possible alternatives

Term duration: 6 Weeks
Schedule: 2 Sessions/week - 2.5 Hrs/Session

Assessments and Attendance:
Learners are assessed throughout the term by tests, quizzes, assignments, projects or other means of evaluation. End-of-term achievement tests measure learners’ overall performance in the course. The final grade in each course is based on learners’ performance on continual assessment measures and the final test.

Final course grades are NOT based on attendance, since in accordance with SCE’s attendance policy, learners must attend at least 60% of the class sessions in order to be allowed to take the final examination.
